Day 22: A Very Merry Christmas

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usI had the definition of A Perfect Day. First, I got some much needed rest to kick this flu’s butt. Then my family and I went to my wife’s extended family lunch gathering before going to my extended family’s dinner gathering. :ast;y, we came home to rest some more. So the day consisted of plenty of eating and sleeping. Fantastic!

Obviously there was a little more to it but that was the basic format and boy was it effective. We finally had great summer weather which meant I was feeling it as I carried alyssa’s capsule between car and building throughout the day. Suffice to say that I rewarded myself for my effort every chance I got with as much Ham, Chicken, Lasagne, Roast Potatoes, Ambrosia, Fruit Salad, German Chocolate Cake and Mango Ice Pudding as I could eat (and yes, I tackled each opportunity like a mini-million-dollar-challenge. Mercilessly!).

If the taste of success is anything like Mango Ice Pudding, I’m certain I would’ve found my next vice because that stuff is just amazing. Hands down. If you don’t believe me, leave a comment below for the recipe and I’ll send it to you so you can be the judge. Just talking about it has got me craving it again. Truly addictive. Oh, and you all should be so lucky to have a wife who will make it yet not have any because she hates Mangoes. I love Christmas!

Another thing I love about Christmas, of course, was the chance to catch up with a lot of friends and family I hadn’t seen in a long time. I also took the time to fill some of them in partially on what I’ve been up to over the last 20-odd days. It was also a prime opportunity to practice some of the techniques I’d remembered from Dale Carnegie’s How To Win Friends and Influence People and Influence by Robert B. Cialdini.

Now, I already hear the cries of outrage from those I spoke to today who may actually be reading this post but I assure you, there wasn’t any magical voodoo involved and to be honest with you, my attention (for the most part) was directed at choosing whether to eat the snowballs first or start my dessert assault with the Strawberries and Cream (a big mistake by the way, that stuff will turn your insides into an aquatic slide in no time easy). The main things I remembered included effective body language when listening to a person, engaging in conversation within a person’s preferred communication range and looking at a person’s experience in light of their own beliefs and worldview (that last one I credit to Seth Godin’s All Marketers Are Liars). Did it reap any tangible results? In all honesty, I can only assume it did, after all, I didn’t have an argument with anyone. The results might be quantified to the first decimal percentile but at this point, the important part is to “get it going”.

With that in mind, I’m up late once again, working on one of the three prongs on my Trident. This will hopefully clarify why I chose to use the picture of Poseidon above. In it, you will see him holding a Trident which is a three-pronged spear. Similarly, my plan to generate a million dollars within 80-Days is a spear consisting of three prospective ideas or streams of income. In theory, these streams should allow me to spread the load and not place all my eggs in one basket. Now, I should probably clarify that I don’t claim to say that I have three one-million-dollar ideas, only that I have three seperate ideas that I hope will generate, at least, the sum of a million dollars by the 80th day. This would mean I’d be focusing on creating a product or service worth an average perceived value of at least $334,000.00 each. The caveat of this, of course, is that I triple the workload¬† and undoubtedly the stress if I make too many wrong choices. Enter both my Mentor and my Mastermind group. My theory is that having a small team of people with specialized skills and an eagerness to collaborate on a project of this scale, will cast this plan in a more attainable light and go a great distance to prove that it can be done.

I’m sure a lot of people will be saying to themselves, ‘Tick, tock, tick, tock, Josh. Your running out of time..” and your right. I look back at the last 20 days and it has just flown, just like I expect the next 20 days to fly by but I have no doubt that I will be able to come to you all at the end of Day 81 and say, ‘I did it. With the support of my family, my friends, my mentor, my business partners and of course, my countless supporters, I was able to set an ambitious goal to change my focus and change my life by making a promise to become an 80-Day Millionaire.¬† I did it and so can you!’

So let me put it this way: If men and women all around the world can attain both Personal and Financial Success by focusing on what they want with an unwavering commitment and replicating the actions of wiser men and women, then what’s holding you and I back? The way I see it is every man and his dog can copy something, the difference is our lack of clarity or reasons why to do so. Put another way, if you were considering whether or not to learnKarate and the trainer said to you, ‘Would you like to know the feeling of walking down any street in the world with a complete absence of fear?’ I don’t know what you’d say but my response would be ‘Where do I sign up? Put me through my paces. Push me to the max. I know what I’m going to get out of it so now that I’ve clarified my reasons to do so, let’s get on with it!’

Now sure, I’m just one guy writing a blog, talking about what he ‘intends’ to do so I’ll leave it at this. My solemn promise to you, as well as myself, is to ensure that what I say is but the tip of the iceberg to what I do. This, I think, will be a great way of staying accountable and being as transparent as possible. It will also show that if I, a lazy, procrastinating, 25 year old, can change my habits, so can you.
